Glass-front cabinets are making a huge comeback, and if you browse Pinterest or Instagram for decor ideas, you’re sure to find thousands of aesthetic photos that you can use as inspiration. Austin Painting and Cabinets may not offer every style of cabinetry we mention, but we do provide glass-front cabinet painting services that can help you get the most out of your inspirational and aesthetic vision.

#1 - Frosted Glass Film

If you like the look of glass-front cabinets but you aren’t keen on the idea of keeping everything behind them in its perfect place, then frosted glass film may be an option for you! It’s easy enough to find online or in most home goods stores, and it’s super easy to apply, too. The frosted glass offers some sophistication while obscuring the view of what’s inside the cabinets. This film looks best in contemporary kitchens, but it can also be applied in modern kitchens.

#2 -The Single-Color Look

The monochromatic look is perfect for homeowners who like the idea of a clean, modern kitchen space where everything has its perfect place. You’ll want to make sure that you store your dishes and glassware in the cabinets that have glass doors, and there are two options here. First, you could opt for plain white dishes and basic glassware matched with cabinets painted in any color you please. Second, you could go for a classic cabinet look with white or off-white paint and place blue, red, green, or any other color of dishes behind. The goal is to mix the color of your choice with white for a clean, fresh, and interesting appearance.

#3 - The Monochromatic Look

If you really want a clean look in your kitchen, opt for glass-front cabinets that have been painted bright white, and store your bright white dishware in full view. It’s a stunning look, but it will require frequently wiping down your cabinets as bright white tends to show fingerprints and smudges more readily than other colors. If you want to add some interest to the look, you can switch out white for the color of your choice. Yellow, red, and green are all popular kitchen colors right now.

#4 - The Eclectic Look

Homeowners who want their kitchens to have some personality can have their cabinets painted in any color they choose, then put their eclectic collection of dishware in all colors behind the glass-front cabinet doors. This look is gorgeous in rustic kitchens, but it’s also possible to make it work in a vintage-style kitchen. To recreate the look, think of something like light blue cabinets with Fiestaware on display behind the doors, but with all of your favorite colors and pieces.

#5 - Decorative Paper

Finally, if you want your glass-front cabinets to be completely unique, consider applying some decorative paper to the glass inside the cabinet door. It’s affordable and beautiful, and it’s a project you can easily do on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Look for some translucent rice paper or even Kozo handcrafted paper from your favorite stationery store, cut it slightly larger than the glass inside the cabinet door, and then use a low-tack double-sided tape to apply it all around. If you are having your cabinets professionally painted, you can look for decorative paper that has complementary colors to complete the new look.

While these are all fantastic ways to breathe new life into your existing kitchen cabinets, there are thousands of ideas out there. The possibilities are truly endless, but if you want the best look possible, start with glass-front cabinets that have been freshly painted in the color of your choice.
